Clothes Care Guide

At Rebekah Jayne one of our brand values is sustainability and in the below article we are going to highlight how we advise you to care for your clothing, whether its bought from us or not, these tips will help you to care for your wardrobe.

  • 1.Try and get as many wears out of your clothes as possible before putting them in the wash. One thing I always find is if your washing detergent has a nice scent, if you can still smell it after you’ve worn your garment, chances are you’ll be able to get another few wears out of it.

  • 2. Hand washing is the best method for washing your clothes as its gentle on the fibres and doesn’t use as much water or detergent. However, at Rebekah Jayne we understand that handwashing your clothes is time consuming and not a realistic option. We recommend that you use a hand wash cycle or a similar setting on your washing machine.

  • 3. Wash your clothes at cooler temperatures and ensuring the machine is full so that you’re being efficient with your time and more responsible with your consumption.

  • 4. Air dry your clothes on a washing line or clothes horse. A tip for drying clothes in doors in the winter without using a tumble dryer is to use a dehumidifier. Simply hang your washing on a line or clothes horse in a room, turn on your dehumidifier and use the timer setting, then leave them in a closed room to dry out.

  • 5. Use a sustainable washing detergent from brands such as Smol, Tallow and Ash, Ecover and Method to name a few. I believe if you’re going to look after your clothes, you may as well look after the environment and your washing machine in the process.
